February 1st, 2013
Dear Oracle Customer,
The Oracle Java SE Critical Patch Update for February 2013 was released on February 1st, 2013.
The original Critical Patch Update for Java SE was scheduled on February 19th , but Oracle decided to accelerate the release of this Critical Patch Update because active exploitation “in the wild” of one of the vulnerabilities affecting the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in desktop browsers, was addressed with this Critical Patch Update. Oracle strongly recommends applying the patches as soon as possible.
The Critical Patch Update Advisory is the starting point for relevant information. It includes the list of products affected, a summary of the security vulnerabilities, and a pointer to obtain the latest releases and patches.
Also, it is essential to review the Critical Patch Update supporting documentation referenced in the Advisory before applying patches, as this is where you can find important pertinent information.
